Cosmic Family Gathering – Friday
Day one is always awesome because everyone is arriving and the wave of excitement is growing… Everyone is fresh and clean from the luxuries of home. Grocery bags are full, beer is ice cold and there’s still a back up bottle of sailor Jerry, untapped. Music fills the canyon as everyone digs in for 3 days of highly refined positive explorations, magical interactions and sonic breakthroughs. I can’t express how much I love my Cosmic Family and appreciate the wonderful musical loving energy from all people present and peaceful.
Stay tuned for more shots from Saturday and Sunday
Beatnik’s Patio
We spent a couple days putting a new shade structure up on the patio at Beatnik Studios. We also landscaped it and put new lighting up to get ready for the wedding season this summer. Most the hard work is done and the patio looks amazing!
I was digging around for some images and discovered a bunch of photos from last summer when we built the patio. Kermit McCourt is a good friend of mine and an amazing artist and we couldn’t have built such an amazing space without him.. Here’s a few pics from last summer’s work and a couple portraits of Kermit. Photos by myself and Lindsay Calmettes.
Come check out Patio 2.0 at the Cosmic Family Ticket Release event on March 16th or Final Friday March 29th
Skate Incognito Issue #3 premier
For those of you that don’t know, Skate Incognito is one of the best things to happen to the skateboarding scene in Sac in a long time. It’s an online multi-media magazine and with a solid group of creative minds behind it. It’s also helping the scene thrive to have such a relentless hard working crew on a constant mission to skate and create artwork. Seriously great work guys.. keep it up. Issue #3 was just released so we celebrated with a little shindig at the Lurk Hard / Official warehouse. I got down their early and hung some photos for the event. Here’s the recap…
I’m Burnie I’m Burnie I’m Burnie for you….

Kyle Duvall. The man behind lots of the photos in the mag.

Danny, the CEO and filmer for the mag.

Chuck brought most of Gardnerville with him

Judd Hertzler, appropriate shirt. I’m pretty sure he works on the mag too.

Gino. Man behind the Lurk
They kicked us out right when the party was starting to go..
See you next time. Can’t wait for issue #4
Summer Road Trip

Well our road trip came and went in a blur this year but we made the most of it. We went to 8 different skateparks, 3 different hot springs and visited the oldest living things on the planet. We visited the Falcke’s at the Orchard House in Genoa NV where Rik and I played our first open mic at the oldest Bar in Nevada. We camped next to the Volcom Brothers park in Mammoth Lakes and shared coffee with some extreme families. These families pull up to the park early in the morning in off road mini vans. After mom, dad and the 2.5 kids get all padded up they commence shredding in the dangerously massive bowls at this park. I’ve never seen so many 10 year olds doing frontside airs out of 14ft transitions. Too much for us so we found the older, much smaller Mammoth Lakes park and skated the flat bar. The lakes were breathtaking (literally because it was all glacial runoff) and the camping was proper. We crash camped around never staying in the same place twice and cooking our meals over a hole in the ground. Visiting the Bristle Cone Pines was peaceful and spiritually charging as always. Up in the white mountains we got the kind of weather photographers dream of and to top it off we had a relentless lightning storm on our way back down into Owens valley. Thanks for checking out my photos.. There’s a story behind each image and I’d love to share them with you soon.
Peace,
Wes Davis
