Today is Halloween and this weekend is Dia de Los Muertos. Whatever tradition you celebrate there’s an undeniable feeling that this time of year is when the world of the living and the world of the dead are intertwined. I recently shot a couple of Sacramento artist’s and experts on Dia de Los Muertos. I met up with Rob-O at Mayahuel Tequila Museo to check out his giant sugar skull and learn about his work. After that I headed over to La Raza Galeria Posada to meet up with Jesus Barela and learn more about the history of Dia de Los Muertos. Check out the article in the SNR
Jesus created these figures of Pancho Villa and Frida Kahlo to celebrate them on day of the dead.
You can see some more of Rob-O’s sugar skull artwork at Little Relics Boutique at 901 21st street in Midtown Sac. It’s a really cool shop and totally worth a visit.
